On December 19, 2024, Governor Wes Moore released a new executive order to strengthen Maryland’s business climate and catalyze more economic growth in the state. The Executive Order establishes a Site Readiness Program, to be administered by MEDCO, which will engage state, local, and private partners to make investments in infrastructure and site improvements, creating shovel-ready sites for investment and business locations in the State. This initiative aligns with MEDCO’s mission to advance business growth, aid business retention, and create new opportunities that generate viable employment opportunities. The intent of the Maryland Business Ready Sites program is to make strategic investments in commercial and industrial development sites with the potential for significant business attraction and economic development impact. The program will assist communities throughout Maryland to increase awareness of business location opportunities, enhancing visibility and drawing in potential investments.
The program will focus on identifying and preparing sites that are primed for development, ensuring that communities can effectively attract new businesses, generate employment opportunities, and foster sustainable economic growth across the state.
