Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities (SCIF) Capital Grants
With mission-critical work and the demand for security-cleared professionals on the rise, the demand for Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities (SCIFs) is growing across the region. These secure work environments help Maryland retain its skilled workforce and maintain its national security advantage. According to a recent State of Maryland study, for every dollar invested in SCIF space, another two to three dollars of private, nonprofit or government match is generated.
Since the State of Maryland cannot apply for grant funding, MEDCO leverages its classification as a quasi-government entity with registered nonprofit status to navigate the application process with the Maryland Department of General Services (DGS) on the state’s behalf.
As the administrator of the SCIF Capital Grants program, MEDCO can help recipients acquire, plan, design, technology, furnish and refurbish SCIF spaces as needed.
To date, MEDCO has awarded $5 million in SCIF Capital Grants to seed five projects in regions that are poised to bring talent, jobs and opportunity to Maryland.
